Mrs. Kylee Heinert

Hello! My name is Kylee Heinert . I am the Second grade teacher here at New Underwood Elementary. Besides teaching,  I have also coached volleyball and basketball at the Jr. High and assist at the High School level.  I enjoy spending time with our students inside and outside the classroom and attending as many community events as possible.

I am married with two kids and three pets! Shawn, is a former Airman and is a Senior IT Analyst at Regional Hospital.  Both our families are from the Todd County area. Our children, Connor and Avery have attended New Underwood School since Kindergarten and keep us busy with their activities. We enjoy traveling, sports and spending time with our many friends and family members.

I come from a family of educators and believe I have chosen the best career in the world.  I graduated from Stanley Co. High School in 1998.  I graduated from Oglala Lakota College with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the Bilingual Teaching program in 2003. I was fortunate enough to work with amazing people at Shannon County Schools for six years working as a classroom aide while I pursued my degree and several accreditations. I came to New Underwood in 2006 where I started in the Title 1 classroom, then moved to the second grade in 2007.  In 2015, I graduated with my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Black Hills State University.

My passion for teaching began at an early age, because both my parents were teachers.  I consider myself one of the lucky few that get to do what they love every day.  I enjoy all areas of the instructional process. I believe all children can learn and do great things, when given what they need.  My goal every year is to not only teach students content, but to know who they are and understand how they learn so I can help them be successful in school.
