Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Voigt

Hello! My name is Ms. Voigt and I will be teaching Science and English classes at New Underwood JH this year. I recently graduated from Black Hills State University with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Reading. I am also currently working on getting my endorsement for English as a New Language. I’m originally from Avon, SD, and am quite familiar with small-town life! I decided to move to the Black Hills because it has always had a special place in my heart and is where I am the happiest! I live in Rapid City with my (not so) little brother who is training to be an electrician and loves to build various things in his free time.

I have previously worked two summers at Custer State Park as a Naturalist. I've also worked last winter at the Outdoor Campus West as a Naturalist, and I just finished working a summer at Mount Rushmore National Memorial as an Interpretive Park Ranger! To say the least, these experiences have given me an abundance of knowledge and activities to use in my classes. You will often hear me talk about either bison or Mount Rushmore as I love these two symbols of our state! I enjoy doing any outdoor activity, reading, and watching baseball (Go Twins!). Please never hesitate to contact me via email and I will respond as soon as possible.

I am passionate about helping students become life-long learners as I see that it is quite beneficial for their futures. It is an honor to be able to teach at this wonderful school and I cannot wait to learn with all of you! I am incredibly excited to be at NU this year and am hopeful that it will meet all your expectations. Go Tigers!
