Library time isn't all about reading! Some days we get our creative energy going in other ways. (They had testing this week, so a change in the way they used their brain was good for them.) These students made paper sculptures and constructed a basketball hoop out of junk.
During the student's library time, we try our best to find at least one book that they can read some if not all of the words. Well, this 1st grader was so proud of herself for reading both books, that we had to get a photo! It even made the Wall of Reading Fame in the Library!

Tiger Way for elementary was Adaptability. Nominees for adaptability were Coltere, Aaryn, Brielle, Tack, Greyson and Nikkita! The recipients of the awards went to Aaryn, Tack and Nikkita! Theo presented the ceremony. Congratulations to all nominees, recipients and presenter!!
The New Underwood Community Book Club will NOT be meeting today. We have changed our meeting date to 4/2/2025 at 5PM in the NU Library. We will be continuing our reading through chapter 20.
We know you all have been waiting to learn the book winner for NU Elementary's March Madness Book Battle! The finale was between Underwear and I'm A Unicorn. The book with the most votes was Underwear! Each classroom will be receiving a copy of Underwear for their classroom library. A big shout out goes to Mrs. Heinert for introducing the daily books and the readers. Thank you to teachers for teaching these students and being patient with the daily schedule change through the month of March. Also, parents, give yourself and your student readers a big pat on the back! They all did amazing!

The book fair was a huge success this year! Thank you to everyone that stopped by to say hello or get some book shopping done. The total earnings from the fair was over $2000.00 and the library received $867.64 in Scholastic Dollars! The school is able to use that money to purchase new books for the library. Day 10 of the March Madness Book Battle was between I'm A Unicorn authored by Helen Yoon and read by Owen and Cassius and Shhh! Everybody's Sleeping authored by Julie Markes and read by Ridge and Carter. I'm A Unicorn was the book that received the most votes! Good job to all the readers!
New Underwood Community Library's Book Club has chosen a new book to read! It's titled A Flicker in the Dark by Stacy Willingham. We plan to meet again on March 26th in the NU Library at 5PM. We will have read up to chapter 11. Hope to see you there!
