During the month of November, the library held a reading challenge that encouraged students to write about a book they have been reading. The expectation was to write a short sentence describing a book, setting or character they have been enjoying. It was fun to read all the responses and to see what our students are reading. Congratulations to Truitt for being the recipient of the box of goodies!

Substitute Teachers Needed

Hello, New Underwood Families!

New Underwood Schools are participating with the RUSH Hockey Team for their Teddy Bear Toss Collection Contest. We are looking to see how many Teddy Bears (new to slightly used) NU students can collect between December 3rd – 9th. If we are a winning school, NU students will get a Nugget Pep Rally sponsored by RUSH.

I am also challenging students to see which class can collect the most Teddy Bears during the contest. The class, kindergarten through 12th grade, which collects the most Teddy Bears will win a PIZZA PARTY!!

Elementary students will bring the collected Teddy Bear/s to their classroom teacher. Middle School and High School students will bring the collected Teddy Bear/s to their class president, who will keep track of the bears collected.

RUSH is hosting this competition to collect as many Teddy Bears as possible to donate to local organizations after the Teddy Bear Toss game, on December 13th. The winning school will be announced at this Teddy Bear Toss game.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Always for the students, Mr. John Oleson

An appropriate trait for November is Graciousness. The elementary Tiger Way presentation was full of NU students that display graciousness every day. Our nominees were Maren (K), Noah (1st), Ricky (2nd), Emaline (3rd), Arrow (4th) and Cami (5th). The recipients of the award went to Ricky and Emaline! A huge shout out to Kolt for presenting the award ceremony! Congratulations to all nominees and award recipients!! Parents, give yourself a warm hug or pat on the back for a job well done! Happy Thanksgiving!
