New Underwood School partners with Feeding South Dakota's Backpack Program. Participation forms are going out to all elementary students today. Middle School and High School students can access the form from the New Underwood School website. Back pack delivery will begin September 4th and will be delivered to the classroom or locker of the student. If you have any questions, please contact darla.rodenbaugh@k12.sd.us

Under the Covers Book Club is excited to announce our new book we will be reading! American Black Widow by Gregg Oleson is a psychological thriller. It takes a deep dive into the chilling story of Sharon Nelson, a woman who led a life marred by tragedies, deceit, and the mysterious deaths of her two husbands. Gregg Olsen's book unfolds the complex web of Sharon's lifelong struggles, stemming from her restrictive upbringing and traumatic experiences, as well as her relentless pursuit of wealth and infidelity in relationships.
The summary chronicles Sharon's confessions to her role in orchestrating the murders, and the profound impact her actions had on her family and the broader community. Some of the proceeds from our book fair last school year was used to purchase more books for the library. Thanks for all the families and students that support the library! The theme this year for the library is Joyful Reading. We all hope you are able to find time during your busy days to read together or find that slice of solitude to read independently. Take a look at the book list of new arrivals that were purchased with book fair dollars!

The New Underwood Middle School staff will review all things necessary to help the first few days of middle school go much smoother. Students and parents will have the opportunity to review the student handbook, practice their lockers, and do a schedule walkthrough where they will meet their teachers. Additionally, we will provide an opportunity for students and/or families to ask question to the middle school staff.
Again, we will begin this program in the main gym at 1PM and should be concluded by 3:30PM. Please feel free to contact the school if you have questions.
